I have often thought that it must be a very interesting job to be a fabric designer or, the creative person who thinks up names for new fabric designs. Some of them are very whimsical and descriptive of the fabric, and otheres ae just plain fun!
Here are just a few of my recent favorites:
Songbirds - Birding Watcher's Wonder - Powder Blue
First Frost - Winter Ferns - Midnight Blue/Silver
I Dream of Poppy - Garden in Color - Royal Blue
There have been quite a few times when I buy a certain fabric design and then later find out that it is no longer available. Then I regret that I did not buy more of it. Sometimes it can be found on etsy or other online marketplaces. Once, I contacted a fabric manufacturer directly to see if I could purchase a wholesale amount of an out-of-print parrot fabric. No problem, as long as I bought 3,000 yards of it- umm, no thanks!
I was pleasantly surprised to find this fabric back in stock after being off the market for almot 10 years. So, of course, I had to buy a coule of yards of it, just in case it gets discontinued again. It has always been a favorite design, and it is rare to find a rose-breated grosbeak on any bird fabric.
Hard to believe that it is almost late June already and the Fourth of July is right around the corner!
I have not done a whole lot of sewing recently, which is not unusual for this time of year. There is always jam to make (strawberry and cherry so far):
And gardens to weed and containers to plant:
And of course, I am still buying fabric once in a while!
A couple more new fabrics coming soon to the Bags of a Feather online shop:
